Diffusion of Br^- ions in KCl-KBr mixed crystals

The diffusion of Br^- ions in KCl-KBr mixed crystals of different compositions is studied at temperatures from 519 to 599°C by the capacitance method. In addition to the composition dependence of the activation energy associated with the diffusion process, the dependence of the chemical diffusion coefficient on composition is determined at different temperatures. The experimental results are in good agreement with those derived from the diffusion theory of non-uniform thermodynamics.
