The kinetics of radical reactions in solid polymers have a number of features which are examined in the present review in relation to the destruction of macroradicals, the reactions of macroradicals with macromolecules, and also the reactions involving low-molecular-weight substances. The mechanism and kinetics of the migration of the free valence in solid polymeric matrices are discussed in detail. Attention is concentrated on the relation between molecular mobility and the kinetics of radical reactions in solid polymers. The bibliography includes 155 references.

A survey of the systematic application of correlation analysis to structural effects in organic compounds of four-coordinated quinquevalent phosphorus showed that the axiomatics of modern analysis (including possible types of intramolecular interaction between fragments of organic molecules and mathematical models of such interaction) will provide an adequate description of the effects of substituents attached to the phosphorus atom. Quantitative resolution into individual components of the structural effects governing the strengths of organophosphorus acids indicates that the widely used σ^Ph constants are complicated in nature, comprising contributions by inductive, steric, and resonance interactions of substituents with the phosphorus atom. Data on the methods of synthesis of α-alkoxyalkyl derivatives of organophosphorus compounds are presented and their chemical properties and principal applications are examined. The bibliography includes 305 references.

Studies on the synthesis and reactivities of gold(l) complexes σ-linked to alkyl, aryl, unsaturated, and carbonyl-containing ligands, π-complexes with olefins and acetylenes, anionic, ylid, and carbene complexes, and also gold complexes with a bridging carbon atom derived from an organic group are examined. The bibliography includes 167 references.

The review deals with reactions involving oxidative addition to both organogold compounds and to gold complexes without Au–C bonds. Furthermore, the review includes reactions involving the reductive elimination of alkyl groups from tervalent gold complexes. The bibliography includes 66 references.

The literature data on the synthesis and properties of polymers with fragments of the polyhedral structures of adamantane and 1,1'-biadamantane are surveyed. The inter-relation between the structures of the polyhedral monomers and their reactivities is examined. A distinctive feature of the adamantane-containing polymers, together with their high thermal stability, is their resistance to hydrolysis and oxidation and to the action of light and solvents. Published information on the chemistry of these complexes stabilised by cyclopentadienyl and other ligands is systematised, and modes of formation of a metal–hydrogen bond in their synthesis are discussed. Consideration is given to the influence on this bond of the structure of various types of transition-metal hydrides containing one, two, or three cyclopentadienyl groups in the coordination sphere. The possibility of stabilising the bond with σ-donor ligands is discussed. The chemical properties of these compounds and the possibility of their use as catalysts are examined. A list of 160 references is included.
