Abstract

Magnetic systems immersed in a heat bath are transformed into reduced systems with extra long-range interactions due to the couplings. It is demonstrated that these systems may undergo ferromagnetic phase transitions at low temperatures even in one and two dimensions and that the type of phase transition can either be continous or discontinous. Three examples are given to show this environmental effect which are or can be experimentally testable in real materials.
