Abstract

The process of photodissociation of the NaI molecule is studied by time-dependent wave packet method developed by Han and coworkers. Three conclusions can be drawn from the calculations. First, the photodissociation of the NaI molecule begins when the delay time is longer than 300 fs. Second, in the excited state of the NaI molecule, more and more NaI molecules photodissociate with the increasing delay time. Third, most of the NaI molecules on the excited state (A) are photodissociated when the pump-probe delay is 650 fs.
