Abstract

Volume magnetostriction measurements are reported on enhanced paramagnetic and weakly ferromagnetic Ni3Al and Ni-Pt alloys. The experimental data are analysed in the band model of magnetism. As a result of this analysis values for the ratio of the effective (I) and bare (Ib) interactions between the itinerant electrons are obtained. For Ni3Al I/Ib=0.5; for Ni-Pt I/Ib=0.85.
