Help: Document Delivery
Non-subscribers can obtain articles in two ways:
- They can purchase articles online (Document Delivery - see below)
- They can buy articles in paper form by contacting
email@example.com with the full
details (title of article, author name, journal name, volume and issue
number). Payment can be made by credit card, bank transfer or cheque.
What is Document Delivery?
Document Delivery enables non-subscribers to view online or download the full
text of selected articles (plus multimedia enhancements if available). Any user
can currently view an abstract, but with our Document Delivery service, the
user will be able to get access, on a paper by paper basis, to the full text of
that article. Payment is made online through secure servers and is validated in
real time. Once the transaction has successfully completed, the user will have
access to the article's full text from 2 locations:
- From the transaction-complete page.
- Once logged into EJs, the user will have access for 72 hours to the
article they have purchased.
Document Delivery only allows access to one article at a time. A system that
allows users to select and purchase more than one article at a time (via a
shopping cart interface) will be developed in the near future.
IOP Publishing keeps a record of all transactions. If you
would like information on any purchases you have made, please contact
Our Document Delivery service is available in the English language only.
Document Delivery Terms and Conditions.
Is Document Delivery Secure?
Our real time validation provider
standard SSL, and its own proprietary unique encryption systems. When the
user completes the payment form and clicks the submit button, their details
are not sent straight away. What actually happens is that a secure link is set
up between the the user's browser and Worldpay, and an encryption code is
requested and received, which then wraps the order and transaction details
before sending them across the internet.
Why use Document Delivery?
Document Delivery has been set up to enable users to purchase one article at a
time and to have access to that article instantly. The credit card information
is validated in realtime and we take payment as the transaction is completed.
So, if you are required to research an IOP article that you don't currently
have access to, Document Delivery will enable you to gain access to it.
How to buy an article
When you reach a Table of Contents (ToC) or an Abstract page of a journal that
either you or your institution does not subscribe to, you will not have access
to the full text of the article (unless that article has been made available
as a promotion). To buy an article, follow the Full text: Acrobat PDF
link on the ToC or the Acrobat PDF link on the Abstract page.
If you have logged into EJs with your username/password, you will be taken
directly through to Buy the article. If you are not logged in but have a
username and password with us, you will need to select Buy this article and
then log in. If you have never created an account with us, you will need to
select Buy this article and then create an account.
Once you have logged in or created an account, you will be taken through to
the payment details page. Here you will be able to enter your credit card
information for real time validation. We will have completed part of the form
for you, as we will already have your details. You will then be required to
fill in your payment details such as the card number and expiry date etc. When
you have completed this, we recommend that you check your order details,
before clicking on the Make Payment link i.e. this is your last opportunity to
make any corrections. Clicking on the Make Payment link will securely validate
your details. After a successful transaction, you will be taken to a page that
gives you access to the full text (plus multimedia enhancements if available).
Accessing the full text
After purchase, the full text will be made available to you directly on the
completion page. You will be sent an Email from Worldpay with transaction
details. You will also receive a confirmation Email from us.
There are 2 methods of obtaining the article full text:
- Clicking on the PDF icon on the transaction-complete page.
- Once you have logged into EJs using your username and password, the
full-text of the purchased article will be available to you for 72 hours
from the time of the transaction.
Who can use Document Delivery?
Only registered users can purchase articles. If you are a registered user, but
you are not logged in to EJs, you will be prompted to login using your
existing username/password. If you have never registered with us before for
Electronic Journals, then follow the create account link.
